Alternatives

I wanted to make Sooji Chillas but ended up making these idlis from same batter , as chillas were not taking their form. So the alternative from same batter saved my time and efforts.  We are all so pro in such kitchen hacks, but when it comes to any professional or personal situation or any skill we want to acquire or any plan we want to achieve, how conveniently we think of either leaving, quitting or running away when it does not takes the form we desire.  What If we start searching the alternatives in any such situation than wasting time and efforts.

Winter snacking

Yes, this is my all time favorite winter snacking. I love Pinnis(also called as Ladoo) and have been having them since my childhood. These are Besan, Channa and Alsi Pinni.  I don't make them, I believe 'Jiska kaam usi ko Saaje' , so my mother in law and my mother makes them for us.  Entire winters I eat them with evening tea or as mid day snacks. Yes, some fitness freaks might not appreciate this,  but my way of looking at this is Besan, ghee,  dryfruits are good for body,  sugar intake is also necessary 😁. Also this is prepared by love of mothers and most importantly I love eating them.  This will also keep my cravings for pastries, banoffee pie, cakes etc at bay for a while.

Menstrual Cup

Menstrual cup is a blessing for women. When in periods make this your best friend. It's been more than 3 years I have been using this now and every single time I express heartfelt gratitude to the person who invented this. It  makes your not so comfortable days super comfortable. Some of the apprehensions around the usage of the cups is, it is messy, awkward, difficult, dirty etc. With my personal experience, I can vouch it is nothing of this sort. With practice and regular usage you will be pro. Not only it makes your life easy, you also contribute towards environment. The alternatives are not really environment friendly.  So do good to yourself and to the environment and start using menstrual cups. I use Mystic Art brand,  it is available on Amazon. If you have any queries or apprehensions please msg, I shall surely guide.

Kanyadan

Kanyadan is a wedding ritual which is performed by bride's father. In absence of bride's father, it is suggested that bride's uncle- aunt (masi-mausa or tai-taya etc) can perform this ritual. Six years back my family also faced such dilemma. It was my wedding and I am a single child brought up by a single parent, nonetheless,my extended families have been very supportive and  encouraging. We were also being suggested to take help from any set of relatives to perform my Kanyadan.  But I was very sure and adamant that my mother will perform this ritual for me.  Why  and how can someone else 'give away' me when one who has 'given me everything' is there. Irrespective of what the tradition says, what society says, what people say, I was very clear on what I want and what is right. I am very glad that my decision was supported and my mother along with my brother performed this ritual. It is absolutely okay to twist rituals and stand for something which you feel is...

Sexual abuse

She was 5, thought it was a game, Very painful, uncomfortable and silent game,  She was always asked to keep shut when game was over, She wondered why her big brothers played this painful game, Until she realized in her later years that game was called 'sexual abuse'. She was food to their adolescent hunger!

Experiences are subjective

My salon services from Urban clap was due today.  I usually go for auto-assigned professional . I was going through her feedback reviews, there were very few sad reviews. For a minute, I got carried away and tried to change the professional, but then I thought how few bad reviews affected me while there were plenty positive ones.  How conveniently we pick the negatives from the positives and create our preconceived notions. I did not change my professional and I am super happy with her services. Experiences are subjective, pick your learnings from other's experiences but rely on your own experience.

Drop the negative habbit

Picking up a new positive habbit may seem a challenge but dropping the negative one is feasible. Start a morning walk from tomorrow may seem a challenge, but no junk for three days a week  is feasible  Reading a book may seem a challenge,  limiting time on social networking is feasible  Planing to pick up a new habit, drop off your bad habit first. Try it!
